For decades, Black America has been told that political representation is power. We have elected mayors, governors, members of Congress, and supported organizations that claim to speak on our behalf. But after all these years, a serious question remains:
Where is the plan?
Tonight on The Publisher’s Desk, we examine whether the Congressional Black Caucus, the NAACP, and much of Black political leadership have a strategy capable of producing measurable results for Black America.
If leadership is effective, communities should be improving. Schools should be getting better. Homeownership should be increasing. Businesses should be growing. Wealth should be expanding. Families should be stronger.
Instead, many Black communities continue to struggle with economic dependency, declining educational outcomes, health disparities, lack of ownership, and political frustration.
This conversation is not about political parties. It is about outcomes.
Has Black political leadership become more focused on maintaining influence than building power?
Have we confused representation with results?
And most importantly, what would a new direction look like?
