McDonald’s has officially brought back its original Fried Apple Pie across most U.S. locations to celebrate the nation’s semiquincentennial (250th birthday). This marks the first time in over 30 years that the classic, deep-fried recipe has returned to the national spotlight. At one time a staple on the fast-food chain’s menu, the Fried Apple Pie was first offered at McDonald’s locations in east Tennessee in the 1960s. McDonald’s discontinued the Fried Apple Pie in 1992 and replaced it with a healthier baked version.
