Rep. Jasmine Crockett used an SPLC hearing to attack Republicans, defend the idea of hate-group labeling, bring up Charlie Kirk, Charlottesville, and Martin Luther King Jr.’s words on racism.
But the exchange changed when she turned toward Dr. Alveda King and questioned why Republicans brought someone with the King name into the room. Crockett argued that MLK III and Bernice King better represented Dr. King’s legacy, while Dr. Alveda King was left waiting to respond.
When Dr. King finally got the floor, she said the remarks suggested she was being treated like a “bastard to the King family legacy.” Then the room noted that the gentlewoman from Texas had left.
