$243 MILLION STOLEN? Judge Says Cook County Broke the Law

A judge ruled that Cook County illegally misspent $243 MILLION in transportation tax funds — money that was constitutionally required to be used for roads, bridges, and infrastructure.

Instead, that money was diverted to pad government budgets, including:
• Sheriff’s Office
• State’s Attorney
• Circuit Court Clerk

Cook County’s defense?
